Never Worry About Gardening Again With This Piece

Every gardener dreams of having a thriving garden. For some, this is a reality, for some it isn't. If you want to achieve your dream of a beautiful garden, there are a few things to learn. If you go in without knowing what you're doing, you'll be putting in a lot of hard work for nothing. You'll never experience the fun that comes with gardening. Here are some tips for making it less work and more fun!

A handy trick is to turn the handle on a tool that you use often into a makeshift ruler. You can convert any large handle tool, such as a hoe, shovel, or rake into a measuring tool. Simply lay the handles out on the floor and run a measuring tape next to them. Mark the measurements with a permanent marker. Now, every time you work in your garden, you are going to have a powerful ruler at the touch of your fingertips.

Cover any wall or fence with climbers. Plants that climb are extraordinarily versatile, and can help hide an unsightly wall or fence, usually within one season. They also work to cover up old, and possibly dead, vegetation. Some may need to be attached to a support, and others will attach themselves to any surface using their twining stems or tendrils. Reliable varieties include wisteria, honeysuckle, climbing roses, clematis, and jasmine.

Lay sod properly. Before laying sod, you have to make sure the soil is accurately prepared. Weeds should be removed, and you should break up the soil into a tilth. Compact the soil gently but firmly to be certain that it is indeed flat. You then will want to thoroughly wet the soil. You want the sod laid down in staggered rows, and the joints to be offset from each other. After the sod has been flattened to an even surface, you can use soil to fill any remaining gaps. According to your climate, you will likely need to water the new sod daily over a period of a couple of weeks. This will insure proper root formation and establishment.

When autumn has arrived, you must plant everything you want to eat before winter. Instead of using regular clay pots this year for planting lettuce and kale, try a pumpkin container instead! Clean out the pumpkin just like you would if you were making a jack o'lantern. Spray Wilt-Pruf inside the pumpkin and along its edges so that the pumpkin won't rot. Once the pumpkin has been prepared, it is ready for planting.

Don't mow your grass too short. Cutting your grass at a taller height allows grass roots to grow deeper and stronger, which helps lessen the chance of your lawn drying out easily. Leaving the grass short makes it more prone to drying out, which leaves your lawn look really brown and yucky.

Coffee Grounds

Your plants will respond better to gradual changes of environment. Put them out in the sun for approximately one to two hours on the very first day. Throughout the week, gradually increase the time they are spent outside. If you do this correctly, the plants should be able to make their final move at the end of a week's time.

If you find that you have soil that has high amounts of alkaline, mix used coffee grounds throughout the soil. The coffee grounds are a very inexpensive way to add acid back into the dirt. When you use them, you will start to notice that your vegetables are tastier and more vibrant in color.

With these tips, you're better equipped to grow the most beautiful garden you can imagine. In learning how to create your dream garden, you'll also be growing as a person. That's because learning how to nurture your plants will not only help you reach the goal of having a great garden, but it will help you learn to nurture yourself.
